There will be an international food extravaganza at the SJV Parish Hall on 18 Nov 2018. Stalls representing Samoan, Indian, Kiwi classics, Youth and Monte Cecilia Catholic School will be selling a variety of snacks and meals. We welcome all cooking enthusiasts to join in with their food preparations. Proceeds of the food sales will be contributed to the St John Vianney Parish fund.
The Feast of St John Vianney is celebrated as the Parish Feast. It is also the feast of all priests as St John Vianney is the patron saint of priests. After mass, parishioners are invited to meet in the Parish Hall to celebrate with morning tea and exchange wishes. It is a special feeling to be a part of the St John Vianney community.
Every parishioner is invited to our 2018 AGM in the hall. The Parish Pastoral Council and Fr Francis will be presenting the annual reports.
There will be the opportunity to raise a question or a suggestion about the running of the church. You can share your hopes for the parish too.
Every year, St John Vianney Church offers baptised children the opportunity to receive their First Holy Communion and Confirmation. Children must enrol in the Sacramental Programme. It is a well structured 6 month programme held with a weekly class on Saturdays in the hall.
This year, the mass will be presided by Bishop Patrick Dunn. Every year, this is a momentous celebration and is well attended by family members of the students and parishioners.
After the service, there is a small celebration organised for the recipients of the sacrament and their families. The celebration is also supported by the families from the previous year's programme.
